Blog: Why you have no use for thick toilet paper

Many people get turned off by the smell of chlorine (thick bleach). Why? Because they associate it with freshness and cleanliness. For example, in the toilet of a gas station along the highway. “It might smell clean, but you won’t get anything out of it.” Speaking of this is Gert van den Bosch, account manager at Spectro.

A toilet bowl is, of course, full of dirt. From human excrement, of course, but also from lime deposits. Gert: “You remove lime with cleaning agents that contain an acid: descalers. Chlorine, bleach, does not contain acids, so it also does not help against lime deposits. It does remove brake marks, but that can also be done with just water. To remove lime deposits, you have to use descalers.”

Camouflage agent

Yet Gert often sees things go wrong. “In the household, many people eagerly reach for a bottle of chlorine. And do they outsource the cleaning? Then the cleaning woman will spray a load of chlorine into the toilet. Although that does clear up the persistent dirt, the toilet is not cleaned. In fact, chlorine is a camouflage agent. A professional cleaner will never touch a bus with chlorine.”

Sanitary cleaning

The water hardness is still high in some parts of the Netherlands. Water companies are working hard to reduce the water hardness. From about 2 German hardness, limescale can already start to form. Water will not be this low. Therefore, we cannot easily do without periodic descalers. If you want to clean a toilet, you need daily sanitary cleaners required. You have these in various types of light acid, with bacterial cultures up to neutral. In our Ecodos line Do you also have sanitary cleaners with the EU Ecolabel? With these products you can really clean a toilet thoroughly, and not just superficially. spotlessly clean. Unfortunately, many people don’t know that. That’s why they just do whatever they want.”

“We have a toilet for every toilet and for every
Target group: an appropriate cleaning agent”

Appropriate means

A toilet is a toilet. But the users of it can vary. Gert: “The dirt marks are almost the same everywhere. But at a metal construction company, the production workers, for example, also bring a lot of dust and metal scraps with them. That requires a specific sanitary cleaner. At Spectro, we have a suitable cleaning agent for every toilet and for every target group: from Dosage systems for daily sanitary cleaning up to and including products based on light acids and bacteria for periodic descaling. But never thick bleach.”
