In collaboration with HAS Hogeschool, we conducted research on plastic recycling.
The conclusion was clear: via our Recycle Factory test case it was simple 74% CO2 reduction feasible.
Petroleum oil and combustion
For the production of 1 kg of HDPE plastic, 0.91 kg of petroleum* is needed.
In the Netherlands, 35% of the company’s waste** is incinerated.
Both processes release a lot of CO2, which we prevent by using the Recycle Factory.
Testcase 74% CO2 reduction
In our test case, we assumed distribution deliveries to a wholesaler in the Netherlands, who then delivers a pallet to a regional cleaning company.
The wholesaler takes the empty packaging back upon delivery, and Spectro collects the empty packaging upon the next delivery.
There are many variables that determine the result; the amount and distance have a major impact.

First result
At this year’s Interclean, Spectro presented the first result: our brand new Ecodos Dosage Bottle.
This innovative packaging is therefore the first production batch made from 100% recycled plastics that we have received back from our customers.
Something that the independent jury has rewarded with a nomination for the Innovation Award.
