Blog: Why a sparkling dishwasher is never a good thing

You can't put any power into foam. A quote from our technical guy: ‘During demonstrations, the police do not use foam spray, but a water gun’. Read below why a sparkling dishwasher is never a good thing.

Foam is the enemy in (professional) dishwashers. This means less water pressure but also higher wear on the pumps. This in turn leads to less clean dishes, poorer drying results and more maintenance. But how does foam form in the dishwasher and what can you do about it? A few important tips and advice:

1. Dishwashing detergents should not foam

Good professional dishwashing detergents They are formulated in such a way that they do not foam when used normally. However, it is possible that a vessel is so greasy that a reaction occurs (we call this foaming) with the detergent, which causes foam. The short-term solution is to empty the washbasin, rinse it thoroughly and refill it. If this happens more often, the dosing system must be reset, often with a dose that is not lower but rather slightly higher.

2. Hand sanitizer away from dishwashers

Our staff, almost like forensic investigators, have been trained to search for hand dishwashing detergents in a professional kitchen environment and prevent frothy dishwashers. Most of the complaints about frothy dishwashers are due to high-foaming hand dishwashing detergents. Even a small drop that has remained on the dishes can already cause a local frothy party. If you still want to manually pre-wash or soak stubborn dishes, use our layer-foaming Kitchen Cleaners or Pre Soak.

3. Foam dampers are not the solution

Although Spectro also has several foam dampers or antifoam products They almost never produce the solution for a frothy dishwasher. At Spectro, we encourage sustainable use and try to avoid unnecessary products.
