Many customers ask us that question. Our answer? Of course they are, because this complete biodegradability is a legal requirement. This does not distinguish our cleaning products from those of others. How they do? Account Manager Suzanne Keijser tells you in this blog.

Suzanne starts right away. "Our cleaning products are interesting for several reasons. Of course they are biodegradable, because that is a legal requirement. But we like to go a step further than that. After all, professional cleaners nowadays have to do and be able to do much more than 'just' clean properly.

Surfactants

First, back to that biodegradability (which is thus a legal requirement). One of the most important ingredients in a cleaning product are the surfactants, Suzanne explains. "These loosen the dirt, and hold it in the solution. All surfactants used in Europe must meet biodegradability as defined in the European Detergents Regulation. This leaves only the natural building blocks such as water, carbon dioxide and mineral salts after the degradation process."

"After the degradation process, the natural building blocks remain"

Unethical (and prohibited)

So although our competitors sometimes claim it, biodegradable cleaners are not unique. In fact, it is unethical (and even forbidden) to list that feature as an added value, especially to avoid deception. And so, at Spectro, we don't do that either.

What we do do

So how do we differentiate ourselves when it comes to sustainable cleaning products? Suzanne: "Anyone who knows our company a little knows that we go to great lengths for maximum hygiene, a low footprint and a good environment. Our Ecodos line is perhaps the best example of that. We offer the products in that line in packaging made entirely from our own recycled plastic with a clever dosing system. As a result, you never use too much of the product. Furthermore, we produce energy-neutral and most products are certified with the European Ecolabel and ASP."
