Good and safe disinfection

Spectro has been producing disinfectant products for professional use since its founding and with a legal license. With the outbreak of the Coronavirus, it is especially important for companies to pay attention to both personal and environmental hygiene. Disinfectants are an important part of this. Unfortunately, we see that disinfectant products are not always applied correctly. Through this fact sheet, we want to provide more clarity on this matter.

1. Hand hygiene
COVID-19 can easily be spread through direct contact with the hands. Therefore, for example, giving a hand should be avoided. Additionally, it is important that hand contact points such as (stair)rails and doorknobs are touched as little as possible. Disinfect your hands only when necessary and if there is no water, hand soap and a sink available for your hands, or if you are working in e.g. the healthcare, food processing industry, hospitality etc. Make sure that the hands are clean and use a hand sanitizer that is legally approved for (corona)viruses (such as Ethades+). Disinfect by rubbing your hands for at least 60 seconds. Below is an instructional video showing how to properly disinfect hands.

2. Surface hygiene
In normal circumstances, cleaning with suitable cleaning agents and equipment is sufficient. In certain situations, the use of disinfectants is necessary. For example, in healthcare, the food processing industry, the hospitality sector, the agricultural sector, etc. However, because COVID-19 can also be spread through surfaces, extra disinfection of hand contact surfaces is necessary. This includes, for example, door handles, light switches, faucets, railings and control panels of (mobile) devices.

3. Disinfecting surfaces
Most disinfectant products are only allowed to be used on clean surfaces. Therefore, if necessary, clean them first with a suitable cleaning agent or cleaning material. Turn off electronic equipment. Use only disinfectant products that are legally approved for the control of (corona)viruses. Ensure the correct dosage, apply the product and allow it to work according to the instructions for use, which can be up to fifteen minutes. So do not wipe it off immediately! Some disinfectant products must be rinsed, others (such as Ethades) just need to dry it in the air. Below is an instructional video showing how to disinfect small and large surfaces.
