In collaboration with HAS University of Applied Sciences, we have conducted research into plastic recycling.
The conclusion was clear: through our Recycle Factory test case, a 74% CO2 reduction was easily achievable.
Crude oil and incineration
For the production of 1 kg of HDPE plastic, 0.91 kg of crude oil* is required.
In the Netherlands, 35% of industrial waste** is incinerated.
Both processes release a lot of CO2, which we prevent through the Recycle Factory.
Test case 74% CO2 reduction
In our test case, we calculated with distribution deliveries to a distributor in the Netherlands, who then delivers a pallet to a regional cleaning company.
The distributor takes back the empty packaging on delivery and Spectro collects the empty packaging on the next delivery.
There are many variables that determine the result, so the amount and distance has a major impact.
First result
At this year’s Interclean, Spectro presented the first result: our brand new Ecodos Dosage Bottle.
This innovative packaging is therefore the first production batch made from 100% recycled plastic that we have collected from our customers.
Something the independent jury has rewarded with an Innovation Award nomination.
