Dermatological certification for Spectro hand soaps

At Spectro, we are always looking for opportunities to make our products even better. Take our improved hand soaps, for example, which recently earned the Dermatest seal of approval. Our R&D manager Peter Maessen explains.

“What’s good today can be better tomorrow,” Peter begins. “This time, we took a close look at our hand soaps. These are regular hand soaps that you find in restrooms or laundry rooms, for example. They are excellent soaps for cleaning your hands. And the great thing is that thanks to an improved composition of preservatives, the soap is now even gentler on your skin.”

Strict legislation

Hand soaps must comply with the strict laws and regulations for cosmetics. For example, they must include an ingredient declaration, be listed in the CPNP (Cosmetic Product Notification Portal), and be evaluated by an external safety assessor. Peter explains: “The assessor looks at everything—raw materials, origin, production process, frequency of use, you name it. Before the product reaches the market, every detail is documented in a report.”

“We are always looking for opportunities to make our products even better and more user-friendly.”

Dermatest seal of approval

Dermatological testing is not mandatory. This involves assessing products for skin tolerance and effectiveness, among other things. Nevertheless, we decided to have our improved hand soaps dermatologically tested by the renowned German institute Dermatest. “The test panel was unanimous,” says Peter. “We were very pleased to receive the ‘very good’ rating. We are, of course, extremely proud of this.”

Always searching for opportunities

For the end users of the hand soaps, little will change. The Dermatest quality mark will soon be featured on Spectro packaging. And, of course, we have updated the list of ingredients to reflect the new composition. “A great further development of a product that was already top-notch,” Peter summarizes. “This improvement fits perfectly with what we stand for at Spectro. We are always looking for opportunities to make our products even better and more user-friendly.”
