You can’t use force with foam. A quote from our technical man “at demonstrations the police don’t stand spraying with foam either but with a water spray”.
Foam is the enemy in (professional) dishwashers. So it causes less water power but also higher wear and tear on the pumps. This in turn causes less clean dishes, worse drying results and more maintenance. But how does foam form in the dishwasher and what can you do about it? Some important tips and advice:
1. Dishwasher detergents are not supposed to foam
Good professional dishwasher detergents are formulated so that they do not foam under normal use. However, it can happen that a dish is so greasy that a reaction occurs (we call it saponification) with the dishwashing detergent which causes foaming. The short-term solution is to empty the wash tub, rinse clean and refill. If it happens more often, the dosing system must be reset, often with a dosage that is not lower but slightly higher.
2. Hand dishwashing detergent near dishwashers
Our staff, almost like forensic investigators, are trained to detect hand dishwashing detergents in a professional kitchen environment. Most of the complaints surrounding foam in dishwashers can be traced to high-foaming hand dishwashing detergents. Even a small drop left on the dishes can cause a localized foam party. If you still want to manually pre-wash or soak stubborn dishes, use our low-foaming Kitchen Cleaners or Pre Soak.
3. Foam dampers are not the solution
Although Spectro also manufactures various foaming dampers or antifoam products, they are almost never the solution to a foaming dishwasher. At Spectro we encourage sustainable use and try to avoid unnecessary products.
